DA Alliance crowned Best New Business in Hertfordshire Business Awards
The Domestic Abuse (DA) Alliance has been crowned Best New Business in the Chamber of Conscience SME Hertfordshire Business Awards 2022.
Co-founders Razi Hassan and Sahiel Shoeb attended the awards ceremony which took place (on Thursday 29 September) at the Langley Rooms, Watford. They were joined by DA Alliance ambassador and actor Lorraine Stanley.
Commenting on the award win, Razi Hassan said: “Sahiel and I were born and raised [in Watford] in Hertfordshire, which makes this award even more personal and special to us. We established the DA Alliance to help make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing domestic abuse, both in our hometown and across the wider county. Since then, our WEPROTECT instant victim referral service has been rolled out by Hertfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire Police, and Cumbria Police as well as several specialist service providers across the UK who support victims of abuse.”
“We are thrilled to accept this award on behalf of our fantastic team – and our legal partner network – who work tirelessly to provide legal assistance and secure the necessary protection to help victims escape abuse. Since 2020 we have supported almost 6,000 Hertfordshire residents to help them break the cycle of abuse so that they can feel safe again. Our work is also informing the national framework to tackle violence against women and girls, and we are exceptionally proud that our WEPROTECT service is helping to improve the frontline response in this critical area.”
All regional finalists in the SME Business Awards are invited to attend the SME Nationals Final at Wembley Stadium on the 2 December 2022.
The Best New Business Award was sponsored by Sobell Rhodes LLP Chartered Accountants.

Finalists – Chamber of Conscience SME Hertfordshire Business Awards
The DA Alliance has been announced as a finalist in two categories – Service Excellence and Best New Business – in the Chamber of Conscience SME Hertfordshire Business Awards.
Now in their fourth year these prestigious awards raise the profile of industrious, hardworking and enterprising SMEs locally.
Rosie Watson, Head of External Communications for the Domestic Abuse Alliance said: “We are delighted that the judges have recognised the skill, dedication and commitment of our team, and our Legal Partner Network, who relentlessly pursue legal protection through the courts so that the people referred to our service can feel safe again.
“In the last year we have received over 3,000 referrals from Hertfordshire Police and other local services on behalf of victims who require immediate legal support. We have also helped to secure court orders for almost 250 Hertfordshire victims in the past two years – that’s two people per week who may otherwise have become a fatal statistic. We remain committed to providing legal assistance to anyone in St Albans, and across Hertfordshire and beyond, who is experiencing abuse, so they no longer have to live in fear.”
Winners will be announced at the Awards Final held at The Langley Rooms, Watford on Thursday 29th September.
