Understanding the Family Court Journey

Family court and legal support concept

The family court system can feel overwhelming, complex, and emotionally draining, especially for those who have experienced domestic abuse. Many individuals enter this process without fully understanding their rights, what to expect, or how to safely navigate each stage.

L.A.D.A’s Family Court Guide has been developed to address this gap. The guide exists to provide clear, accessible information and support to those going through family court proceedings. It aims to break down legal processes into understandable steps, helping individuals feel more informed, prepared, and empowered.

A Guide Shaped by Lived Experience

This guide is also deeply personal. It was developed by Charlotte Budd, the creator of L.A.D.A’s Family Court Guide, drawing on her own experience of navigating the family court system as a litigant in person without the guidance or clarity she needed at the time.

Her experience highlights just how confusing, isolating, and intimidating the process can feel.

This guide has been created to offer the clarity and guidance she didn’t have so that others facing the same journey feel more supported, informed, and less alone.

Moving Forward with Greater Confidence

Ultimately, the Family Court Guide is there to reduce confusion, ease anxiety, and ensure that no one has to face the system without knowledge or support. It is a resource designed to help people move through family court with greater confidence, clarity, and a sense of control.
